In observance of Scoliosis Awareness Month, the Spine Research Foundation, in collaboration with H P Ghosh Hospital, successfully organized an Awareness Programme on Scoliosis on the 28th of June, 2024.
Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that most often is diagnosed in adolescents. The angle pf the curve may be small, large or somewhere in between, Scoliosis Awareness Month, held in June, is a dedicated time to learn about a condition that makes the spine curve abnormally. It aims to educate and promote early detection, helping people understand and manage scoliosis for better health. Its primary objective is to educate the public, emphasizing the importance of early detection and understanding the available treatments.
Scoliosis can affect individuals of all ages and genders, making awareness crucial for timely intervention. The programme aimed to educate the public about scoliosis, its effects, and the significance of early detection and treatment. Highlighting the success of advanced treatment methods, the event featured 30 patients who have been successfully treated and cured by the Spine Research Foundation.
Distinguished speakers Dr. Saumyajit Basu, Dr. Amitava Biswas and Dr. Trianjan Sarangi shared their insights on scoliosis, discussed advancements in treatment, and emphasized the importance of awareness and early intervention.
‘We are committed to spreading awareness about scoliosis and providing the best possible care to our patients. This event is an excellent opportunity to educate the community and showcase the successful outcomes of our treatment,’ said Dr. Saumyajit Basu.
The programme included educational sessions, patient testimonials, and opportunities for attendees to interact with medical professionals and cured patients. The patients shared their inspiring stories of recovery, underscoring the effectiveness of timely and advanced treatment.
