A Blood Donation Festival was organized at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on the auspicious occasion of the 127th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The Blood Donation Festival organized by ‘Kalighat Sports Lovers Association’.
‘Kalighat Sports Lovers Association’ has been organizing such Blood Donation Festival every year on the birthday of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose with the ideal of ‘Hao raktadata, Joy korbe manabata’ (Be a blood donor, win humanity).
The general secretary of the ‘Kalighat Sports Lovers Association’, Babun Banerjee, said, ‘We have been organizing this blood donation festival last 25 years. This time the number of blood donors was more than 3000 on the occasion of Silver Jubilee year. Many people came from different districts of West Bengal including Kolkata and donated blood this time too. There were two citizens of Bangladesh among the blood donors.’
In this context, Babun Banerjee also said, ‘We are taking this great initiative of donating blood on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birthday every year to give a message of humanity and to pay tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.’
Many dignitaries were present at the Netaji Indoor Stadium to welcome the grand initiative of Baboon Banerjee and ‘Kalighat Sports Lovers Association’ and encourage the blood donors. Apart from the celebrity sportspersons, political leaders, ministers and celebrities from the entertainment industry attended the blood donation fest.
State Women & Child Development & Social Welfare Minister Shashi Panja, Sports & Youth Welfare Minister Arup Bishwas, Trinamool Congress West Bengal State Committee President & Rajya Sabha MP Subrata Bakshi, Information and Culture Minister Indranil Sen, MP and former footballer Prasoon Banerjee, MLA Debashis Kumar, Mayor of Bidhannagar Krishna Chakraborty, Singer & Music Director Nachiketa Chakraborty, Former Footballer Amit Bhadra, Archer Dola Banerjee, Chief Advisor of ‘Kalighat Sports Lovers Association’ Kunal Saha and others were present at the blood donation ceremony.
Nachiketa Chakraborty and Indranil Sen sang a song each to encourage the blood donors and entertain the audience during the blood donation festival.
