Kolkata : A new drama 'Durga Dando' was staged under the banner of 'Pratyabartan' at Madhusudan Manch in Dhakuria on Thursday evening, 21 November. The drama is directed by Animesh Tarafdar.
The main theme of the play was the torture and rape of women by the anti-socials. Not only that, the play shows a group of women taking the law into their hands and punishing the criminals after not getting any help from the police. This play is very relevant. The director has tried to stage it very nicely. It can be said that the actors and actresses of the drama have been very successful in their efforts to perform well.
Apart from directing the play, Animesh Tarafdar handled all the responsibilities of stage planning, background music planning and costume planning. Gargi Mukherjee has given voice for this play. Maloy Chatterjee, Digvijoy Bishwas and Mohammad Ibrahim have done the lighting, background and make-up respectively. Sayani, Priyanka and Ritam Mondal helped in various ways to stage the play.
Soma Banerjee, Swagata Mondal, Debashree Roy Sheel, Kaushani Basu, Kankana, Rimpa, Gautam Shikari, Shouvik Roy, Ashish Vikram, Animesh Tarafdar, Krishna Boiragi, Avranil Bakshi, Nidhi Mondal, Madhurima Mondal and Arish Tarafdar acted in various roles in the play.
