Annual State Conference of 'Independent Journalists Association' was held at Press Club, Kolkata

Like every year, the annual state conference of ‘Independent Journalists Association’ was held at Press Club,Kolkata. Mandira Raha, head of ‘Srabanti Kalakendra’, performed the song at the beginning of the program. She performed Rabindra Sangeet’s ‘Alokker Ee Jharna Dharaya Dhuye Dao…’.

The annual meeting was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. District Governor of Rotary Club Dr. Amitabha Chakraborty, Dr. Krishnandu Gupta, Lawyer Sabyasachi Chattopadhyay, Program President and Journalist Shyamolendu Mitra, General Secretary of the organization Sajahan Siraj, Co-Editors Ariful Islam and Amar Naskar were present in this annual conference.

The theme of the seminar in this year’s conference was ‘Is the Constitution of India in PERIL?’ Lawyer Sabyasachi Chattopadhyay spoke first on this matter in the conference. Sabyasachi expressed some personal opinion about the word ‘independent’.

Snehashis Sur, President of Kolkata Press Club spoke on Digital Journalism. Former MP, journalist and editor of 'Puber Kalam' newspaper Ahmed Hasan Imran, journalist Prasun Acharya, Kalyan Maitra, Rajni Mukherjee, Sitaram Aggarwal and many other journalists participated in the discussion.
In this annual state conference of 'Independent Journalists Association', some students of Mass Communication of Journalism from South Kolkata's Vivekananda College and Maheshtala College were present.
