West Bengal Police conduct multiple raids in North 24 and South 24 Parganas on retailers dealing in counterfeit Goodknight LV refills

Kolkata, January 07, 2026: West Bengal Police, along with Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL)—the company behind Goodknight, India’s leading household insecticide brand—conducted several raids across North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas to curb the sale of counterfeit Goodknight LV refills in the region. The raids, carried out with support from GCPL’s investigation agency, mark a crucial step in curbing the spread of fake mosquito repellent products in the market.

Based on actionable intelligence, the local police and investigative teams conducted raids at several retail and stocking locations suspected of dealing in counterfeit products. The raids led to the seizure of a significant volume of counterfeit Goodknight materials, indicating a well-organized operation involved in manufacturing and distributing fake products.

In North 24 Parganas the items recovered included large quantities from a refilling unit in Ali Haidar Road, Titagarh, where 2,540 finished twin-refill packs of Goodknight Flash (90 ml each), 600 filled bottles, 1,860 empty bottles, 6,200 labels, and 6,500 packing boxes were seized. In addition, 1,950 twin-refill packs were recovered from a nearby stockiest unit in NS Path, Titagarh and 500 packs from Mira Store, (supplier), Khardah. Further seizures included 67 twin-refill packs from Acharya Stores in Belgharia and 165 twin-refill packs from Maa Tara Bhandar in Panihati, along with one machine combo pack.

In South 24 Parganas, 569 twin-refill packs were seized from Maa Basanti Bhandar, Kakdwip Station Road and 255 pieces (including loose packs) from Basanti Stores, Kali Mandir Roadi in the Kakdwip region.

FIRs (First Information Report) have been lodged against the accused under multiple Sections of The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and Copyright Act, 1957. Authorities are now tracking the distribution links and supply networks associated with this unit to prevent further circulation of such hazardous products in West Bengal and adjoining states. This action stands as a warning to those dealing in counterfeit goods and reflects GCPL’s commitment to protecting consumer trust.

Commenting on the issue, Ashwin Moorthy, CMO, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, said, “The spread of counterfeit products across the country is a major concern for the FMCG industry. Counterfeits or look alike products are not only illegal, but also harmful and hazardous to human health.  GCPL invests a significant part of its revenue to develop innovative products that continue to serve customers better and Goodknight, a market leader in the home insecticide category, is one such example. We regularly undertake quality checks of our products through a collaboration with our distribution network, local authorities, and consumers. This initiative with the West Bengal police authorities will reprimand local retailers, manufacturers, and distributors of duplicate Goodknight products in the state.”

Given the presence of counterfeit Goodknight products in the market, consumers should exercise caution and purchase only with a genuine sales invoice. If people suspect any duplicate Goodknight products or find any wholesaler/retailer dealing in them, they can report the matter to GCPL by writing to care@godrejcp.com or calling on 1800-266-0007.
