The state conference of 'BPBEA' is underway at Mahajati Sadan, Kolkata

Kolkata, February 14, 2026: The 31st state conference of the ‘Bengal Provincial Bank Employees Association’ (B.P.B.E.A.) was held at the Mahajati Sadan in Kolkata on Friday. On the occasion of this conference, a procession of bank employees was organized from B.B.D. Bagh to Mahajati Sadan, which carried a strong message of employees’ unity and demands.

The presence of over 1,000 bankers and observers at the inaugural session added to the importance of the conference. AITUC General Secretary Amarjit Kaur and AIBEA General Secretary C. H. Venkatachalam were present as the chief guests at the event. Their speeches emphasized the current situation in the country’s banking sector, the rights of workers and employees, and the need for organized movements. The conference will continue until February 15, 2026.

The conference discussed issues such as protecting the rights of workers and employees, strengthening public sector banks, addressing the challenges of rapid digitization, and analyzing the impact of changes in monetary policy. In addition, several important demands have been raised from the conference, such as ensuring job security, speedy recruitment to vacant posts, etc.

One of the main objectives of the conference is to strengthen coordination with the All-India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) to resolve various industry-specific issues and strengthen union solidarity at the pan-India level. The conference also reviewed in detail the recent actions, demands and outlines of possible industrial action by bank unions in early 2026.
