Everyone knows that, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay‘s classic novel ‘Devi Chowdhurani’ had been made into a movie before(1974). Directed by Dinen Gupta. ‘Devi Chowdhurani’ starred Suchitra Sen and Ranjit Mallick as her husband Brajeshwar. Basanta Chowdhury was seen in the role of Bhabani Pathak. But this time Subhrajit Mitra is in charge of directing this ‘Devi Chowdhurani’ (Bandit Queen of Bengal) in a new way. This film is also going to be made based on Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel. The shooting of this film is going to start 27th January 2024. A press release from the producers revealed this information today.
Already, the look of the characters of this new film ‘Devi Chowdhurani’ was revealed and there was quite a stir among the movie lovers. Finally, the shooting of ‘Devi Chowdhurani’ will be starting from tomorrow. Besides directing, researched, scripted, dialogued and production designed by Subhrajit Mitra. Â
Srabanti Chatterjee will be seen as Prafulla (Devi Chaudhurani). On the other hand, Prasenjit Chatterjee will play the role of Bhavani Pathak, though his look is yet to be revealed. Apart from this, Sabyasachi Chakraborty will be seen in the role of Harvallabh Roy, Arjun Chakraborty in the role of Rangaraj, Bibriti Chatterjee in the role of Nishi, Darshana Banik in the role of Sagar and Kinjal Nanda in the role of Brajeshwar Roy.
The film ‘Devi Chowdhurani’ is going to be produced under the banner of ‘An Adited Motion Pictures Production’. The film will present by Aparna Dasgupta.
Anirban Chatterjee will handle the cinematography. Music is directed by Bikram Ghosh. The look of the characters will design by Somnath Kundu and the costume will design by Poulami Gupta.Â
