KOLKATA : The students of Techno India Group, a leader in education and creativity, today unveiled a 7ft high eco-friendly Maa Durga idol, created by them, at Techno Main Campus, Salt Lake. Crafted entirely from 35 packets of tissue paper, fabric and vibrant paints, the idol showcases the artistry and dedication of students from Techno India Group Public Schools (TIGPS), Techno Main Salt Lake (TMSL) and Techno India University (TIU) for weeks, under the expert guidance of the distinguished faculty. The students are creating beautiful, sustainable Durga idols for the past 3 years. First and second year they made with unused engineering products and fabric. This year the handcrafted masterpiece made of tissue papers will make its international debut at the Lalbaba Rice Thames Durga Parade in London organized by Heritage Bengal Global.
The grand unveiling was marked by the presence of Ace Music Composers, Sourendro Soumyojit, Prof Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson, Techno India Group and Meghdut Roy Chowdhury, Founder Make Calcutta Relevant Again & Chief Innovation Officer Techno India Group. The sound of traditional dhaaks infused the atmosphere with festive spirit.
We are incredibly proud of our students’ efforts. This idol is not just an artistic marvel but also a symbol of sustainable celebration, made with tissue paper, fabric, and vibrant paints. This marks the third year that our students have created an eco-friendly idol, with this year’s rendition using tissue paper and colours to bring their vision to life The idol was created over the span of four weeks by our students under the expert guidance of the senior faculty members. With Durga Puja being such a significant cultural event, it is important to balance creativity with responsibility towards our environment. Our students have embraced this balance beautifully. Art has always been a powerful medium to connect with both culture and sustainability. We are thrilled to announce that this year, our idol will be proudly showcased at the Thames Parade, taking this local tradition to an international stage” said Prof Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson, Techno India Group.
