House of Handweavess Unveils Cultural Launch Evening Celebrating Craft, Sustainability & Women of Substance

Kolkata, March 29, 2026 : Marking a significant moment in contemporary Indian fashion, House of Handweavess (HOH) successfully hosted its Cultural Launch Evening on Friday, 27th March 2026 at Pipal Tree Hotel. The event, titled “Sūtrāṅganā – Woven by Hands, Carried by Stories,” celebrated India’s rich handloom heritage while promoting sustainability and bold, independent voices.

The evening commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by distinguished dignitaries, symbolizing the brand’s official entry into Kolkata. The founders, Simran Sheikh and Debansu Chatterjee, introduced the vision of HOH—bridging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary narratives and taking Indian handwoven artistry to a global platform.

The event was graced by eminent personalities including Nandini Bhattacharjee President, All Bengal Men’s Forum (ABMF), advocate for gender-neutral laws, Jharna Bhattacharjee- Elocutionist, poet, writer, and lyricist, Santi Das–(IPS Officer)-ADC to Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, Ranjita Shaw– Founder & MD, THERSHAW; renowned luxury brand curator associated with global names like Hyatt, The Oberoi Group, IHCL (Taj), and Armani Beauty and Miss World & Miss India Organizations., renowned make-up artist Soma Saha-(make up artist,(Tollywood/Bollywood), and Sudeshna Das Debnath– presently works as Assistant Director at MSME, Kolkata, followed by –Prof. Lopamudra Bhattacharyya is the Founder CEO of GLF Business School and a pioneering figure in Indian business education. She is recognized as the first woman to establish a B-School in the country.

A special highlight of the evening was the felicitation of “Women of Substance”—women achievers from diverse fields who shared inspiring journeys aligned with the brand’s philosophy of resilience and authenticity.

The program featured:

• Launch of the HOH brand logo and official social media platforms 

• Unveiling of the brand’s theme song 

• Exhibition of handcrafted garments and textile processes 

The cultural segment brought Bengal’s artistic legacy to life with performances by sitar maestro Pandit Sandeep Neogi, tabla virtuoso Pandit Santanu Chakraborty, and Kathak dancer Sudatta Saha, creating an immersive artistic experience.

More than a brand launch, the event positioned House of Handweaves as a cultural movement—advocating slow fashion, ethical production, and recognition of India’s weavers and artisans. The founders emphasized their vision to expand globally while preserving the authenticity of handcrafted traditions.

The evening concluded with an interactive hi-tea and dinner session, witnessing strong media presence and appreciation from attendees. The successful launch marks the beginning of HOH’s journey toward redefining sustainable luxury and storytelling through textiles.
