KOLKATA,October 30, 2025: Union Coal secretary Vikram Dev Dutt on Thursday inaugurated the four-day 11th International Mining, Equipment & Minerals Exhibition (IME) at the Biswa Bangla Mela ground here.
India presently stands at a pivotal juncture to gain a momentum to lead the next phase of the global mining revolution and the point of sustainability has been pegged to remain at the core of all initiatives in the coal sector as coal is not merely a commodity but a strategic pillar of India’s economic growth and energy sector.
To spur the revolution, Coal India has pegged to spend around Rs 16,000 crore in FY 2026 for its capital expenditure and asked all its subsidiary companies, except Northern Coalfields, to increase their offer quantity under e-auction to 40 per cent of their respective total production in the first quarter of FY26.

The IME 2025 assumed a critical significance as CIL chairman-cum-managing director P M Prasad and Steel Authority of India chairman Amarendu Prakash, both stalwarts their respective fields, addressed the inaugural ceremony of the 11th Asian Mining Congress among others.
In fact, there has been rising demand for infrastructure mobilisation, renewable energy projects and advanced, sustainable mining technologies. Enthused by an overall drop in coal imports, the Coal ministry has reiterated its goal to become a net exporter of non-coking coal by 2025-26.
Thus, the four-day IME & ISME International Conference & Exhibitions 2025 that begun here today, is likely to turn the ‘City of Joy’ into an epicentre of the World mining and metal industry.
A rare combination of three events – the Asian Mining Congress(AMC), the International Mining Equipment, Minerals, Machinery Exhibition (IME 2025), and the International Metal Exhibition (ISME 2025) which represent India’s largest integrated platform for the Mining and Metals sectors – will make a display of machinery, equipment and the latest innovative technologies in the mining and metal industries.

Concurrent to the Exhibitions at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan & Science City Ground here jointly organised by MGMI ( Mining, Geological & Metallurgical Institute of India) and TAFCON, the Asian Mining Congress (AMC) to be held on 30th and 31st October, 2025 at Hotel JW Marriot, is likely to inject a much-desired push to India’s mining momentum.
