Kolkata, April, 2026 : In an effort to reconnect the younger generation with India’s ancient wellness traditions, renowned Ayurvedacharya Dr. Debabrata Sen conducted a special interactive session at Beltala Girls’ School aimed at making Ayurveda relevant and relatable to Gen Z students. The session, held from 1 pm to 2 pm, witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 100 students of Classes VIII to XI, along with members of the teaching faculty.
Designed as part of a broader awareness initiative to introduce holistic wellness practices to today’s youth, the programme focused on how Ayurvedic principles can help young people navigate modern-day lifestyle challenges such as stress, irregular sleep, unhealthy eating habits, excessive screen time, and lack of physical balance.
The session began with a warm welcome by a student, following which Dr. Sen engaged directly with the audience in a language and format tailored for young minds. Moving beyond conventional medical discourse, he explained how Ayurveda is not merely an ancient treatment system but a sustainable way of life that remains deeply relevant in the fast-paced digital era.
Using practical examples from everyday student life, Dr. Sen spoke about the importance of mindful eating, proper sleep cycles, balancing studies with rest, and identifying early symptoms of common health issues. He also highlighted the growing importance of preventive healthcare and regular monitoring of health indicators such as blood sugar levels, especially in today’s increasingly sedentary lifestyle culture.

The most engaging part of the programme was the vibrant question-and-answer session, where students openly discussed their concerns related to health, anxiety, fatigue, concentration, and lifestyle habits. Dr. Sen’s approachable interaction style helped bridge the gap between traditional knowledge and contemporary youth culture, making Ayurveda appear practical, scientific, and accessible rather than outdated or ritualistic.
As part of the initiative’s vision to build long-term awareness among young people, Dr. Sen also shared his official email ID, encouraging students to continue seeking guidance and engaging with wellness-related discussions beyond the classroom.
The school authorities concluded the programme with a formal vote of thanks, while teachers too participated actively by raising health-related queries of their own, adding further depth to the interaction.
A torchbearer of a nearly two-century-old Ayurvedic legacy, Dr. Debabrata Sen has consistently worked towards preserving and modernising India’s traditional wellness knowledge systems. Through such youth-centric outreach initiatives, he is attempting to reposition Ayurveda not as an old-world alternative, but as a practical and preventive health philosophy capable of addressing the physical and mental wellness challenges faced by Gen Z today.
