Jagannath Comes to Kolkata: 10 Lakh Devotees, 3 Days, One Mega Spiritual Wave

Kolkata, April 12, 2026 : The city of Kolkata will host a grand spiritual event called “Shri Jagannath Vishwashanti Mahayagya.” This special event will take place from April 17 to 19, 2026, at FD Block Ground, Salt Lake.

The event is organized by Shri Jagannath Darshan Charitable Trust and Sri Rajadhiraj Jagannath Charitable Trust, along with Jagannath Parivar from Puri. The aim is to spread peace, unity, and devotion among people.

For the first time in West Bengal, devotees will see the sacred 32 Besa Darshan of Lord Jagannath. This is a rare and special spiritual experience. During the event, 151 kund (holy fire pits) will be used for prayers for world peace and human well-being.

Devotees will also take part in Vedic rituals, cultural programs, and devotional music. Mahaprasad of Lord Jagannath will be prepared and distributed among all devotees.

Around 5 to 10 lakh people are expected to attend this three-day event. It will be one of the largest spiritual gatherings in eastern India.

Lord Jagannath is known as a symbol of unity and love. His message teaches that all people are equal, beyond caste and religion.

Speaking on the occasion, Head Daitapati Bhabani Prasad Das Maharaj said, “Lord Jagannath lives in the hearts of all people. This Mahayagya is a call for peace and togetherness. Through this event, we want to spread the message of love, unity, and spiritual awakening.”

This event is not only about rituals. It also supports social work like seva, cow protection, temple development, and healthcare services.

The organizers are reaching out to people through media and public programs. They expect to connect with 5 to 6 crore people across the country.

The Shri Jagannath Vishwashanti Mahayagya will be a historic event for Kolkata. It will bring people together in faith and devotion, and strengthen the city’s spiritual and cultural identity.
