Kolkata, 24 June 2025 : In response to the rising cancer cases, Medella Karkinos Oncology Institute organized a high-impact Continuing Medical Education (CME) program at Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas. The event focused on equipping clinicians with cutting-edge knowledge in the treatment of complex gynecological cancers.
The CME featured in-depth academic sessions on:
• Treatment of Recurrent Cervical Cancer – Options & Advances
• High-Risk Endometrial Cancer – Molecular Profiling & Precision Medicine
With over 60 doctors in attendance, including Dr. Sudoy Halder, Dr. Sandipan Chowdhury, Dr. Sayoni Bhanja, Dr. Palash De, Dr. Chiranjit Mukherjee, Dr. Arijit Sen, Dr. Kazi Sazzad Munir, along with specialists from gynecology, medicine, and surgery, the program created a collaborative platform for discussing the evolving landscape of cancer care.
Dr. Akther Jawade, Director East, Karkinos Healthcare said, “There is a rise in cancer prevalence, particularly among women, with cervical and endometrial cancers among the leading contributors. This increase highlights the urgent need for regular cancer screening, early detection, and improved access to oncology services, especially in rural and semi-urban regions. Medella Karkinos is committed to addressing this challenge through not only advanced clinical care but also community outreach, education, and awareness initiatives.”
Dr. Akther Jawade added, “This CME is part of our larger mission to bridge gaps through knowledge exchange and innovation. Programs like these allow us to educate, empower, and extend our reach into communities that need us most. Such platforms play a pivotal role in raising awareness about new treatment paradigms and technologies that can transform cancer care, especially when integrated into local healthcare ecosystems.”

The sessions emphasized the importance of precision medicine, molecular diagnostics, and targeted therapies in improving outcomes for patients with high-risk gynecologic cancers. Discussions also addressed the role of new technologies in expanding access to quality cancer care. The CME also underlined the importance of ongoing medical education in ensuring that clinicians stay abreast of rapid developments in oncology.
