Kolkata, 17th January 2025 – Narayana Hospital RN Tagore Hospital, Mukundapur, has
launched a second interventional radiology catheterization laboratory (Cath lab), making it
the first facility in Eastern India equipped to perform simultaneous interventional
procedures. This new Cath lab with groundbreaking technologies significantly enhances
the institute’s capacity for advanced vascular and oncological care, establishing it as a
leader in innovation and treatment outcomes.
The new dual interventional Cath lab is equipped with the first Canon Cone Beam CT
Interventional Cath Lab system in India, a technological breakthrough that offers superior
precision, reduced radiation exposure, and enhanced system mobility for better patient
access. The advanced set-up includes better access to the patient, more advanced guidance
to direct devices, more television monitors, allowing larger teams and trainees to observe
procedures from multiple perspectives, enriching educational opportunities, and
positioning Narayana Hospital RN Tagore Hospital as a premier treatment and training hub
for patients and interventionists across India.

This additional Cath lab will become integral for the institutions well known Aortic team,
comprising of cardiac surgeons, vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists
delivering complex aortic procedures including newer cases using advanced closure
devices eliminating surgical scars and improving recovery times. In addition, the
oncological procedures and neurovascular procedures including acute stroke will also
benefit.
