500+ Job Offers at Stake: GMIT & BOPT Join Hands to Power Careers in a Time of Crisis

Kolkata, 5th May 2025 : In a time when job insecurity and layoffs dominate headlines and dreams of countless diploma holders lie in limbo, Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology (GMIT), a premier institution under the JIS Group of Engineering Colleges, in proud partnership with Board of Practical Training – Eastern Region (BOPT-ER), has announced a mega job fair offering over 500 career opportunities across various industries.

At a press conference held at Kolkata Press club, top industry and academic leaders came together to launch this transformative initiative. Participating companies include Iskraemeco, TVS Brake, Technocon Services, Kone Elevator, Dynamic Engineering, Inceptial, RT Network, Prozor Tech, Besco, RNS Green & Renewable Pvt. Ltd. and others, offering roles across technical domains. TVS Brake as well as Iskraemeco are recruiting for 150–200 positions, while Technocon is also among the major recruiters.

In a significant announcement, Soumya Sen, Chairman and MD, Technocon Services Group of companies having varied business interests across Telecom, Logistics, Diesel Engines, EPC, ShipBuilding employing over Ten Thousand technically skilled workforce have committed induction of over 200 skilled workers for their new upcoming state of the art Diesel Generating Set manufacturing plant in South 24 Parganas. Teknoconstant Energy Pvt Ltd in association with Tafe TMTL Eicher is setting up the plant due to be inaugurated on the 16th of May 2025 along with a sales and service network across the Eastern Region to provide customers with off the shelf power backup solutions.

GMIT Vice Chairman Bodhisattva Banerjee said, “We are glad to host such an important event where diploma students will have the opportunity to secure jobs right here on the GMIT campus. We are also proud that there are so many job openings available for diploma students. With this sense of pride, we would like to honor all the Training and Placement Officers, as well as the Principals of the diploma colleges, for their commendable efforts in ensuring successful student placements. To acknowledge this, we will be presenting the Bishwakarma Samman. We sincerely hope that all the vacancies at this job fair, organized by BOPT, are successfully filled.”

Dr. S. M. Ejaz Ahmad, Director of BOPT-ER,  emphasized, “This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering industry-academia collaboration and ensuring that qualified students find meaningful employment and hands-on training opportunities. Such fairs help students align their skills with real-world demands while supporting the nation’s skill development goals.”

Our upcoming smart meter manufacturing facility in Hyderabad will be one of the largest in the country and will play a pivotal role in supporting the nation’s digital energy goals. To support this ambitious expansion, we are participating in the job fair to onboard over 500 skilled diploma holders who will be instrumental in driving our production and innovation forward” said Madan Mohan Chakraborty, CEO & MD, Iskraemeco.

This initiative stands out as a timely and meaningful opportunity for diploma holders from the 2020 to 2025 batches to launch their careers with national and international companies—right here at home. The job fair will be held on 9th and 10th May 2025 at Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology (GMIT) Campus from 9 AM to 6 PM.
